Containers

On the Containers page, you can set up and view all the containers based on your company's warehouse and storage facilities. Containers in ContentsTrack can represent the physical spaces where you store items throughout the onsite inventory and pack back process, for example a truck or a cleaning area. You can also use Containers to denote workflow processes. In this sense Containers allow you to customize ContentsTrack to your specific workflow. You can use this page to track inventory items as they are moved to different containers through the workflow. You can also print container IDs.

  • Access the Containers page in the Tools menu.
  • Add, edit, and delete container statuses and condition codes on the Preferences page.

You can view your company's container setup in a table or a hierarchy tree.

Table View

Select Table View to quickly see the status of each container and how many items are in it.

  • In Table View, you can select the # Items hyperlink to see the inventory for that container. In the next screen you can edit items or go directly to the inventory page for a job.
    • Select the Job Name to go to the inventory for that job.
    • Select the Description hyperlink to edit the item.

Tree View

Select Tree View to see or edit your container hierarchy in real time. This view shows you where your mobile containers are currently located. You may need to edit the layout as processes, statuses, and locations change.

Set up container layout

Set up the container layout based on your company's warehouse and storage facilities. Then create container statuses and condition codes on the Preferences page. Set the Type to "Station" to access a station from the Stations page.

Add a location container

  1. Select Tree View.
  2. Select a container to attach the container to (as a sub-container). If there are no existing containers, select the Locations heading.
  3. Click Attach. A dialog box appears.
  4. Enter a Name.
  5. Select a Type. See Container Types for more information.
  6. Click Save.

Add  a mobile container

Mobile containers are defined as containers that can be moved within a location or sent to a different location.

To add multiple mobile containers at once, see Import mobile containers below.

  1. Select Tree View.
  2. Select the Mobile Containers heading.
  3. Click Attach.
  4. Enter a Name.
  5. Select a Type.
  6. Select the current location (where the mobile container is presently located in your warehouse or workflow).
  7. Click Save.

Import mobile containers

You can import a large number of mobile containers at once using the Mobile Container Template.

  1. Select Tree View.
  2. Click the Mobile Containers heading.
  3. Click Import.
  4. Download the Mobile Container Template.
  5. Enter the mobile container details following the instructions given in the template.
  6. Save the template.
  7. Click Choose File, select the template file, and click Open.
  8. Click Import. The file is imported and processed. Your mobile containers are added to the list.

Edit a container

  1. Select Tree View.
  2. Select a container.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Make your changes.
  5. Click Save.

Delete a container

  1. Select Tree View.
  2. Select a container.
  3. Click Delete.

Container Types

All containers are assigned a "type" which is represented by an icon. The "Station"  Container Type needs to be set for any station that will be accessed from the Stations page.

Location types: Location , Structure , Vendor , Truck , Room , Area , Shelf , Station

Mobile Container types: Rack/Cart , Vault

Print container IDs

Print container IDs so you can easily scan and track items as they move through the workflow. ContentsTrack uses standard Avery labels.

Note: Containers with the Location or Structure type, will not receive a bar code. Every other container automatically receives one.

  1. Select Containers in the Main menu.
  2. Click Print Container IDs, found at the top left of the page. A dialog box appears.
  3. Complete the form (see options below).
  4. Click Print. ContentsTrack generates a PDF for you to print onto your labels.

Print Container IDs options

  • Company Name: Enter the name of your company.

  • Type: Select a Label type (Barcode or QR code, and number of labels per page).

  • Starting Cell: Click the barcode icon to select a cell to start printing in. This is useful if you have a partial page of labels.

  • Select the containers for which you want to print a label.

  • Select All: Click to select all of the containers.

  • Select Location: Click to select only the Locations containers.

  • Select Mobile: Click to select only the Mobile containers.
